چکیده

Numerical studies of the domain chaos state in a model of rotating Rayleigh-Bénard convection suggest that finite size effects may account for the discrepancy between experimentally measured values of the correlation length and the predicted divergence near onset.

Temperature chaos and bond chaos in Edwards-Anderson Ising spin glasses: domain-wall free-energy measurements.

Domain-wall free energy sigmaF, entropy sigmaS, and the correlation function C(temp) of sigmaF are measured independently in the four-dimensional +/-J Edwards-Anderson (EA) Ising spin glass. The stiffness exponent theta, the fractal dimension of domain walls d(s), and the chaos exponent zeta are extracted from the finite-size scaling analysis of sigmaF, sigmaS, and C(temp), respectively, well i...

Scaling approach to glassy stationary states of spin-glasses under chaos effects

Dynamics of spin-glasses subjected to slow continuous changes of working enviroment such as slow changes of temperature or interaction bonds are studied based on scaling arguments and numerical simulations of continuous bond changes. Such perturbations lead to a glassy stationary state where the age or domain size of the system is pinned to macroscopic but finite values due to competition betwe...

Study of Chaos and Scaling in Classical SU(2) Gauge Theory

Following a recent suggestion by Nielsen, Rugh, and Rugh, we study the energy scaling of the maximal Lyapunov exponent of classical Hamiltonian SU(2) lattice gauge theory. It is shown that the conjectured scaling behavior λ0 ∼ E1/4 at small energies on the lattice is a finite-time artifact. New numerical results for the maximal Lyapunov exponent are presented for lattices up to size 20 and over...

Domain Growth and Finite-Size-Scaling in the Kinetic Ising Model

This paper describes the application of finite-size scaling concepts to domain growth in systems with a non-conserved order parameter. A finite-size scaling ansatz for the timedependent order parameter distribution function is proposed, and tested with extensive Monte-Carlo simulations of domain growth in the 2-D spin-flip kinetic Ising model. The scaling properties of the distribution function...

Extensive chaos in Rayleigh-Bénard convection.

Using large-scale numerical calculations we explore spatiotemporal chaos in Rayleigh-Bénard convection for experimentally relevant conditions. We calculate the spectrum of Lyapunov exponents and the Lyapunov dimension describing the chaotic dynamics of the convective fluid layer at constant thermal driving over a range of finite system sizes. Our results reveal that the dynamics of fluid convec...
